Andrew W. Hannah
Andrew W. Hannah is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Plextronics, Inc., an international printed electronics company focused on the
manufacture of solar cells, high-efficiency lighting and circuitry from ink-based technology. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, the Company is pioneering
low-cost, high-volume printing of organic solar cell and OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) lighting.
Since its founding in July of 2002, the company has been honored with many awards, including: AlwaysOn GoingGreen's Top 100 (2008), 2008's #1
fastest-growing manufacturing company in Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh Business Times), One of Pennsylvania's Top 100 Best Places to Work (2008),
Energy Innovator (DOE 2007), Printed Electronics Champion (IDTechEx, 2007), and Top Ten Clean Tech Start Up (GreenTech Media, 2007).
Active in the printed electronics industry and other entrepreneurial organizations, Andy is the Vice Chairman of the Organic Electronics Association
(a global organization focused on the commercialization of printed electronics) and a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University
(on leave of absence beginning in 2009). He is also active in the following organizations:
- National Renewable Energy Lab Solar Technology Review Panel (TRP) member. Established by the U.S. Department of Energy, this panel will provide a
means of maintaining NREL's relevance as the energy policy and market landscape changes and advises NREL executives on key strategic questions.
- Pennsylvania NanoMaterials Commercialization Center Board Member. This nonprofit organization focuses on facilitating the commercialization of
nanomaterials technologies.
- Etcetera Edutainment (EE) Board Member. EE specializes in adapting the techniques and technologies of the videogame industry to simulations for
training and educational purposes.
- Pittsburgh Regional Alliance (PRA) Advisory Board (nominated in 2008, to be confirmed in 2009). The PRA is a partnership of more than 50 private
and public sector leaders and economic development professionals from across the region to attract capital investment and create jobs in Southwestern
Pennsylvania.
- Charter Member of TiE (Pittsburgh Chapter). TiE is a global organization that focuses on fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.
Andy spent the first six years of his professional career at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, a global consulting and accounting firm, working with
technology and middle market manufacturing organizations. Driven by his passion for entrepreneurial ventures, Andy spent the next seven years in
senior management positions with three early stage companies in Boston and Pittsburgh: ISI Emerging Markets, STORM, LLC and Internet Venture Works, Inc.
He has been involved in a series of community-building activities for many years and was recognized for his achievements by Penn State in 2003 as a
Pittsburgh Fast Tracker and was awarded the 2001 Smeal College of Business Emerging Professional Award.
While at Deloitte & Touche, Andy co-founded and led the creation of Leadership Development Initiative (LDI), an organization that encourages
young professionals to take leadership roles in their communities. He has served as a board member of Leadership Pittsburgh (LDI representative) and
the Katz Alumni Board as well as volunteering with Junior Achievement, the Roberto Clemente Foundation and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Andy earned his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz School of Business with an emphasis in marketing and finance, and received his
BS in Accounting from Penn State in 1987.

Martin Lagod
Martin is a Managing Director and co-founder of Firelake Capital Management LLC. Previously, he was the co-founder and CEO of an energy technology company that developed microturbine and clean combustion reciprocating engines for the distributed power market.
For the previous 19 years, Martin was an intellectual property attorney based in Silicon Valley. He was a partner in the Palo Alto office of Phoenix based Brown and Bain until 1995 and at Cooley Godward LLP in Palo Alto from 1995 to 2001.
Martin holds a B.A. in Economics (with Honors) from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University.
He serves on the boards of Miasole, Nano-Tex, Plextronics, and HydroPoint Data Systems, Inc. Martin also serves on the Advisory Board for the Center for Sustainable Enterprise at The Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill).

Richard D. McCullough, Ph.D.
Rick is Chief Scientist and co-founder of Plextronics, and Dean of the Mellon College of Science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). He joined CMU in 1990 as an Assistant Professor and quickly rose through the tenure ranks, being promoted to Associate Professor in 1995 and Professor in 1998.
In 1998, he assumed the role of Department Head of Chemistry. Then in 2007, Rick was named Vice President of Research at CMU, where he is responsible for nurturing interdisciplinary research initiatives, overseeing sponsored research and technology commercialization, as well as obtaining funding for research activities.
Rick is internationally known as the world's expert in the synthesis of regioregular polythiophenes. His research focuses on understanding the structure-property relationships displayed by these materials.
He holds a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. from The University of Texas at Dallas.

William R. Newlin
Bill is Chairman of Newlin Investment Company, a longer term investment fund. He was most recently Dick's Sporting Goods Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer.
Prior to joining Dick's, Bill was Chairman and CEO of the law firm Buchanan Ingersoll (now Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney), growing it to one of the 100 largest firms in the country. Bill also has twice been recognized by the National Law Journal as one of "The 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America" and served as Chairman of Kennametal Inc., a New York Stock Exchange $2 billion global toolmaker.
Bill graduated from Princeton University, has received the University of Pittsburgh Law School's distinguished alumni award and was awarded an honorary doctorate of business administration from Robert Morris College.

Ned Renzi
A founding partner of Birchmere Ventures, Ned focuses on engineering driven technologies and medical devices. He is a current or past director of COPD Partners, Cvent, Entigo, Lightningcast and Plextronics. He is also a Founding Charter Member and current board member of TiE Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association.
Ned is a frequent guest lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University. He has over 17 years experience in founding, managing and investing in high technology companies. He was previously a Senior Manager at Concurrent Technologies Corporation, a $225 million high technology research organization, where he developed CTC’s telemedicine business and was also responsible for e-commerce, web programming, high speed networking and virtual reality projects.
He was also a senior manager in the U.S. Department of Defense Special Projects group where he was responsible for wireless communications, custom software projects, robotics and various sensor technologies.
Ned holds an MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master’s in Engineering Management from George Washington University. He also earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.

Leopold Demiddeleer
Leopold Demiddeleer is currently co-chairman of the New Business Board of SOLVAY, a Belgian pharmaceutical and chemical group with global reach.
Beginning his career in 1976 by teaching mathematics and physics, Leopold joined SOLVAY in 1981. Starting in catalyst research, he successively led different R&D entities of the group — polyethylene, high performance polymers, global polyolefins research — before being appointed as New Business Development Director in 2000.
Leopold is currently active as a member of the EC Advisory Council on Fuel Cells and of the Board of EIRMA (European Industrial Research Management Association). He's also active with the Advisory Board of three Venture Funds (Conduit Ventures I & II, Pangaea) and Board Member of Technology Startups.
He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Brussels University.
