Pittsburgh, PA, August 26, 2008 -  At an awards ceremony last week hosted by the Pittsburgh Business Times, Plextronics, Inc. was named the fastest-growing manufacturing company in Pittsburgh and the sixth-fastest-growing company citywide. The company's materials and inks, which are developed at its headquarters in Hamarville, PA, enable the mass production of printed devices, such as low-cost organic solar cells and high-efficiency lighting.

An accompanying Pittsburgh Business Times article on Plextronics credited the company for its work in solar cell and organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology, and noted that its 2005 to 2007 revenue grew by 393 percent.

When asked how important the employees of Plextronics are to the company's growth, CEO Andy Hannah had this to say: "We work very hard at the kind of culture we want to have. We hire the brightest people in the world who have a lot of intellectual curiosity about how things work, and they have to be very competitive so that we can get this technology into the market. And, they have to be good people, too."

Hannah also was quoted in the article about what's next on the horizon for Plextronics. "The big  blockbuster product we have is the solar cell. … Early customers are giving back data that exceeds what we promised it would deliver," he said.

Over the past six years, Plextronics scientists have refined and further developed this technology to deliver exceptional performance for printed electronics.
